Soccer on the Internet:

Many players, coaches, administrators, parents and 'fans' in the United States know little or nothing of the world game. In many ways it’s the fault of the media because they feel that the US teams can’t participate in events such as the ECL (UEFA Club Champions League) and the relative insignificance of the MLS and Pro. Soccer in the USA doesn’t warrant wide exposure. However this shouldn’t hinder ones desire to learn about what’s going on another parts of the world because in other, smaller countries, with less access to televised soccer, they care a great deal about worldwide soccer. One could argue that we have other big sports in this country, but again, this shouldn’t prevent real soccer people from finding out who the worlds best players are, whom they play for and generally how we compare to other countries. Many argue that it’s difficult to see televised soccer. In 2000 we invited a Philadelphia Charge WUSA player who had received private training for many years from our staff and who had attended our camps to meet our 2 girls teams Class 1 U/16 & 17 teams. The day prior she had completed her first season in the WUSA, beating Mia Hamm’s team in the final. I had assumed that most, if not all the girls had watched the game- to my surprise and everyone’s embarrassment, only 1 of 32 players watched the game on TV. The argument that women don’t get opportunities to watch ‘their game’ is not always well founded. Girls in general watch far too little soccer and tend be focused on their own league play. The best female players we have encountered, and indeed the best male players, all knew who was who in the soccer world and where they themselves stood in relation to those players-its called ‘benchmarking’. It is extremely important to compare and contrast U.S soccer to the rest of the worlds best –MLS players should watch Serie A, Primera, Apetura/Clausura and EPL games while college players especially need to be watching teams and players from these leagues. It is virtually impossible to watch high-level women’s soccer because it’s rarely televised outside the larger events such as the WWC or Olympics. Now you have no excuses not for not watching the world’s best soccer. At World Soccer our coaches use the highlights as motivational tools for the players. If you don’t have a favorite player, team or favorite goal then you’ll be sure to find one on one of these links. If you aren’t sure who to look for, drop us a line and ask one of our coaches who can walk you through pretty much every clip. While the ECL will cost you approx $90 per year, the FIFA and Yahoo sites are completely Free!

UEFA Champions League:  http://www.uefa.com/video/landingpage.html

On this site you can watch all the European Champions League games, goals and highlights as well as archives of all your favorite Champions League games, highlights and goals. If you didn’t already know, the ECL (formerly known as the European Cup) is the top European club competition, played over a 6 month period, culminating in a 1 game final in late May. Real Madrid, Liverpool and AC Milan have dominated the competition throughout its history. Watch Arsenal’s Henry, Viera and Pires as well as Real Madrid’s Zidane, Owen, Beckham, Figo, Ronaldo, Raul and Roberto Carlos. Also enjoy watching archived games and viewing 'old' players, such as Van Basten, Savicevic, and more. World Soccer (www.worldsoccerinc.com) has always been an advocate of 'strong visuals' for players. If you like 'Raul' as a player-simply enter his name in the archive sections and you’ll get dozens of clips. The great thing about the UEFA ECL package is that you can watch the current season games the day of the event. If you wanted to watch the magical Zidane before he signed for Real Madrid, go to the ‘Archive’ menu and type in his name and the years (pre 2000). This years teams in the round of 16 are Liverpool FC, Monaco, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, PSV, Inter, Werder Bremen, Leverkusen, Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Man. Utd, Lyon and Porto.
